Time: 10:00am - 2:00pm | Junior Ranger Program 10:30am

Location: Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park

On the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park comes alive with the sights, sounds, and stories of the California Gold Rush. Experience history in action as the park transforms into a vibrant 1850s setting, where visitors can discover what daily life was truly like during this pivotal era.

Our Junior Ranger Program is held on the second Saturday of each month at 10:30 a.m. at the Beer Garden and is geared toward visitors ages 5 and up. During this free program, we explore the commonly found animals of the Coloma Valley and learn how they communicate with one another—offering young explorers a fun and educational way to connect with where we call home! It’s an engaging, interactive experience that sparks curiosity, encourages observation, and helps children build a deeper connection to both the natural world and the rich history of the park.

Enjoy interactive demonstrations, hands-on activities, and engaging interpreters who bring the Gold Rush to life. Join us and be part of the story!

  • Learn what it was like to be a miner in Coloma and what tools were used to find gold.

  • Visit with the carpenter as he makes items to use in the mines.

  • Visit with our rope maker and make your own rope.
